I'm jumping up and down with excitement waiting to share my wedding pictures with the world. The lovely Miss Sarah Yates did the most amazing job (no surprise there) and I can hardly stand it. We just stood there and she worked magic. EVERYONE should hire her. And I'm not just biased because she's my friend. But, those pretty images will have to wait (and the super 8mm that goes with it).
In the meantime, I can share this with all of you: our City Hall ceremony. Remember this post? Because we were married in Mexico, my husband and I legally had a ceremony in San Diego prior to our departure. Truth be told, our wedding in Sayulita feels like our "real" wedding and this felt like practice, but we still wanted to capture this on film. As an added bonus, our furry children (yes, I'm obsessed. helllloooo), who were my only reasons for thinking twice about a Mexico wedding, got to be apart of our legal ceremony. And my sister flew in to be our witness. And dog leash holder. And it was lovely, and perfect, and actually really special because then I could stop my pouting about my dogs not being there for our wedding. Because they kinda were.
*And i'm not kidding when I say that everyone needs some Super 8 in their lives. It's the perfect little splice of your wedding. No words. Just music and pretty, pretty images. Made more pretty by my husband. Enjoy.
**And check out this for all the details on our Sayulita wedding day in my most delayed response to anything. Ever.

We were recently in Lake Tahoe styling & coordinating the wedding of my childhood friend, Meaghan. The setting at Valhalla on the south shore was totally stunning and couldn't have been more perfect for what Meaghan & Jenn were hoping to capture. Rustic, woodsy, and really cozy and warm. The venue fit them to a "T". It ended up being a drizzly June day so there was nothing better than having all that candlelight and a roaring fireplace to set the scene.
These two wanted details that were really close to their hearts. They met in a school and Jenn proposed with a book (in Tahoe) so library cards were used for seating charts, authors names were used on the tables, and chalkboards were scattered throughout. A vintage book on Lake Tahoe served as the guest book and Girl Scout cookies were served on the dessert table recalling the nostalgia of their childhoods. Meaghan's mom sewed all the linens (a perfectly mis-matched combo of patterns. beautiful.) and Jenn's family created desserts for nibbling. My sister was the maid of honor & Meaghan's brother served as best (and only) man. It was truly a day of family, old friends, and thoughtful touches. And then, as Meaghan went to walk down the aisle, I started to tear up. One of my oldest friends, whose hair I ruthlessly cut and whom I relentlessly costumed in tutu's, had found more happiness than I had ever seen in her before. Truly magic...

Thanks Meaghan & Jenn for letting me & Myka play such a special role in your big day. And thanks to my hubs, DJ Austin Hendrix, for creating the best dance party I've seen since our own wedding, in Sayulita!

We are big fans of summer and we were all too ready to celebrate it on Saturday night in backyard. The space is such a blank canvas that we went to town decking it out with our favorite summer things-- yellow, orange & white lights (deconstructed from three different types of string lights to make our own sunshine-y version), farmer's market vegetables and flowers, striped fabrics, umbrellas, potted plants and hay! Yes, hay. We love the rustic look of it and the casual seating it provides. Awesome (but messy).
The night was full of good friends, great summer bites provided by MIHO Gastrotruck, beer tastings provided by , yummy popsicles by Viva Pops, and clips from all our favorite summer movies to the soundtrack of my cute hubby's tunes. What could be better than sitting on a hay bale taking in some flicks & yummy food under a canopy of lights and palm trees? Not much, I tell you. This team knows how to celebrate summer which is why we heart our friends so much!
And as an added bonus we had a special visitor, Joy from Oh Joy!. Head on over to her blog and check our her take on the night!

Tori
It's summertime and we are taking a break from the heat and celebrating in a big way tomorrow night. If you live in San Diego, you should too. We are really lucky to have some amazingly talented friends to team up with and are so excited to all be in the same place, bringing you a taste of San Diego summer. Good food. Good sounds. . And styling by yours truly.
And P.S. Have you been to ? Must. Go. Now. My old friend, Elexia (we used to work retail together many, many years ago), opened the best darn boutique in Little Italy full of the most beautiful, colorful, mexican treasures you've ever seen (and we all know about my obsession with Mexico). She even got a mention in the New York Times! We are using her backyard in this converted old house, now storefront, to make you feel summertime. And stay tuned for Elexia's awesome Mexico wedding in the next few weeks....
